Program Overview

This program provides a detailed overview of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended schedule for children aged 0 to 6 years. The first part includes a detailed overview of the schedule for children aged 0 to 18 months, including key safety issues and tips for addressing parental concerns about vaccines. The second part includes an overview of the vaccines required for preschool-aged children, including the rationale behind these additional doses. The activity also includes a “Frequently Asked Questions” section, and a "toolbox" that serves as a consolidated source for additional information on pediatric immunizations. This may be of value not just to clinicians, but also to office staff who administer vaccines.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of primary care physicians, pediatricians and allied healthcare providers who treat children.

Learning Objectives

Upon completing this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Implement the ACIP-recommended immunization schedule for children aged 0 to 6 in clinical practice.
  • Identify the vaccines provided at age 4 to 6 years and explain the rationale for providing these vaccinations.
  • List 2 strategies for addressing parental concerns about pediatric vaccinations.
