These articles are based on the symposium “Differential Diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder Subtypes: Indications for Adjunctive Therapies” presented by Alejandro Alva, MD, and Michael J. Gitlin, MD, at the 21st Annual U.S. Psychiatric and Mental Health Congress on Oct. 30, 2008, in San Diego.

 
Target Audience

This activity was designed to meet the continuing education needs of psychiatrists and other physicians. Faculty

Dr. Alva is the chief medical officer of Pacific Neuropsychiatric
Specialists and medical director at ATP Clinical Research Group in
Costa Mesa, Calif.

Dr. Gitlin is professor of clinical psychiatry at the David Geffen
School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles;
medical director of neuropsychiatry behavioral health services at the
UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital; and director of the mood disorders
clinic at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital.
